Fashion Designer Of The Year

I'm so grateful that in the 1st year of starting my clothing line I was able to participate in 3 fashion shows and win Fashion Designer Of The Year for Raw Minneapolis 2013! I had such an amazing time at those shows. I've met so many wonderful people in the business and so many talented artists. Not only was this a huge stepping stone for me, but also an incredible experience to be influenced and inspired by other people who are chasing their dreams.

This week I've been a busy little bee designing new Rock Dollie shirts and instagramming the entire process. I'm a little over the top when it comes to documenting my design process, but I like to keep people updated on what I'm doing! I put up new pics every time I complete a look. Girl Meets Fashion

It amazes me how much I like all the girly things like make up, jewelry, shoes, etc. I was the biggest tomboy growing up! When I was younger my dad used to take me to the Kick, Punt, and Pass competitions in my home town because I loved to play football. I was the ONLY girl there surrounded by all the boys in my grade! I did however end up schooling some of the boys during those competitions; what can I say, I love being competitive.

So although I've been this huge tomboy growing up, I also had a passion for styling outfits. I remember how important I thought outfits were in high school....just like every other girl, right?! I also came back during college to style my sisters for prom and every other school dance. I should have known then that this was something I wanted to do for a career. 

After starting AVCD, I've realized it's so much more than just making clothes. Not only am I building a clothing line company, but I'm also building my own brand which includes fashion photography, styling, and design. I've continued designing clothes, but I'm more concentrated on expanding my fashion portfolio. So as soon as a design is completed, I immediately start planning a photo shoot and how I'm going to be styling the looks. It's one of my favorite parts of the process. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks and nice weather I can get out there and start producing more pictures! With new looks ready to be photographed, AVCD is ready to jump start the new series of Rock Dollie looks. I can't wait to show you all!

A Little Bit Goes A Long Way

I make it a priority to work on AVCD a couple hours everyday. Whether that's actually sitting down at my sewing machine working on the clothes, editing and uploading pictures to facebook/instagram, prepping for photo shoots, or shopping for good steals at thrift shops. I try to make sure I'm always moving forward and keeping people updated on my business. Whatever free time I have I use it to work on my clothing line. I told myself that this was the year AVCD would make a break through, and I'm gonna work my butt off to make sure that it happens. I'm feeling extremely hopeful because I have close to 35-40 items that need to be professionally photographed, added to my portfolio, and then eventually sold! Right now I'm focusing on my Rock Dollie line. There's a lot of colors, florals, crazy prints, and unique patterns for this line, and I'm excited to see how people respond to it. Keep an eye out for new pictures and items for sale! 

Raw:Minneapolis Fashion Show 2013

One of my favorite things about fashion is photo shoots. Here are some of my favorite shots taken at one of the fashion shows for RAW Minneapolis in 2013. These lovely models are wearing the first set of Muryl Jean gowns. This line was started in September of last year, and I'm hoping to create a new set of designs in the next couple of months and showcase those in a summer fashion show.

Golden Globes Ambition

I had a restless night of sleep last night, but I feel more ambitious than ever! Weird, right? And even on a Monday! The reason I couldn't sleep last night was because all I thought about was designing! The Golden Globes were last night, and for me it was like I was a kid in a candy store. Seriously how amazing were some of those dresses! I tried to sleep, but I was sketching up ideas in my head, picking out my color themes, and visualizing photo shoots for my next dress projects. Running on maybe 3 hours of sleep I still woke up feeling that same drive. My biggest dream is to see one of my dresses on that red carpet one day. So even though it's Monday, I'm ready to kick ass and work hard this week!

Dress Up

Having two younger sisters always meant that something was gonna be borrowed at some point...and no guarantees if anything would be returned. That usually meant anything in my closet was up for grabs. We are all in our twenties now and my sisters still raid my closet for clothes! I don't mind so much as along as I can help style their look :) Ramie and I had a slumber party the other night and played dress up. Here are some pics of Ramie wearing AVCD.

New Year Resolutions

AVCD had a fantastic year in 2013. Not only was AVCD started in 2013, but there were numerous photo shoots, 3 fashion shows, and I won Raw Minneapolis Fashion Designer Of The Year! I couldn't have asked for a better year. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be accomplishing so much so fast. It definitely makes me very hopeful for the future! This year I really want to focus on styling more photo shoots, expanding my two lines: Rock Dollie & Muryl Jean, making more promo videos, and taking on designing full time. I would love to put all my energy and time into my business and hopefully within this next year I can give my undivided attention to AVCD. Here are some of my favorite pictures from this past year!
